Midway waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Oakdale Eagles 15-0. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 18-0 last Monday.
Caiden Brewer was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other batting news, Rowynn McClure was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He has become a key player for Midway: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 1-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jett Ingram, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
Midway's record is now 4-5. As for Oakdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midway will venture away from home to square off against Meigs County at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meigs County will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something Midway surely won't give up without a fight. As for Oakdale, they are taking a road trip to challenge Coalfield at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Oakdale has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
