Softball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for White Station

White Station came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Overton Wolverines get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matchups by 11 runs or more this season.

Shelby Chapman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, White Station got a massive performance out of Zaylie Alvarez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave Alvarez a new career-high. Presley Sims was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with eight stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

White Station lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

White Station's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Overton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Coming up, Overton will head out to take on Whitehaven at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. White Station will be paying especially close attention to the Wolverines' contest: after the Wolverines face off against Southwind, they'll take on White Station again at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
