Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Tatum Jones and Makenzie Jones Lead Mullen to Victory

Mullen saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They walked away with a 43-33 victory over the Lone Peak Knights.

Mullen was led to victory by Makenzie Jones and Tatum Jones. Makenzie went 7 of 12 en route to 14 points along with seven assists and five boards, while Tatum posted 12 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Makenzie a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryker Thomas, who put up five points.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Mullen was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lone Peak only racked up five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Lone Peak lost, don't look at Kennedy Woolston. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. Tatiana Harness was another key player, putting up six points and three steals.

Mullen has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Lone Peak, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-4.

Mullen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 40-34 win against Xavier College Prep on the 19th. As for Lone Peak, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 31-27 victory against Lincoln on the 19th.
