After flying high against the IDEA Riverview Rockets last Friday, the IDEA Weslaco Pike Mavericks came back down to earth. IDEA Weslaco Pike took a serious blow against Rio Hondo on Tuesday, falling 75-25. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points IDEA Weslaco Pike has scored all season.
Rio Hondo's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Molina led the charge by scoring 24 points. The game was Molina's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Abby Atkinson, who scored 21 points.
IDEA Weslaco Pike's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Rio Hondo, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. IDEA Weslaco Pike will finish 2023 at home by hosting Progreso at 5:30 p.m. on December 29th. As for Rio Hondo, they will play host again and welcome Lyford, where tip off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on December 29th.
