Even though the South Bulldogs scored an imposing 59 points on Saturday, the Lincoln Golden Lions still came out on top. Lincoln had just enough and edged South out 62-59. Given Lincoln's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while South is ranked 145th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
When it comes to explaining why South lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lajames Washington. Despite the final result, he scored 25 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maurice Mccall, who scored nine points.
Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for South, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 0-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will take on Westerville North at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Beechcroft at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Beechcroft focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday.
