The Chicago Christian Knights will challenge the Lisle Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
Chicago Christian came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 14-2 to Richards. Having soared to a lofty 18 runs in the game before, the Knights couldn't push the score so high this time.
Chicago Christian saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brenna Schaafsma, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Meanwhile, Lisle had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Westmont with a sharp 14-4 win on Saturday. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Sentinels recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
McKenna Riley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Lisle let Jaya Claussen and Megan Bradley run wild. Claussen scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4, while Bradley went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sophie Crescenzo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
Lisle hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westmont struck out 12 times.
Chicago Christian now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Lisle, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Everything went Chicago Christian's way against Lisle in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, as Chicago Christian made off with a 13-2 victory. Will Chicago Christian repeat their success, or does Lisle has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
