Softball Recap: Newtown Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Win

Newtown had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Wednesday. Everything went their way against the Bowne Wildcats as they made off with a 33-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Newtown's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 19.1 runs this season. As for Bowne, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Newtown will venture away from home to challenge Forest Hills at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Bowne, they will head out to face off against Bayside at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Wildcats will need to watch out since the Commodores have now posted at least ten runs in their last five matches.
