Reidsville is 0-10 against Rockingham County since April of 2017 but things could change on Thursday. The Rams will host the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Reidsville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
Reidsville is headed into the match having just suffered their closest loss since March 24th on Tuesday. They fell just short of Morehead by a score of 9-7.
Princeton Janney was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Davis Bowers was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rockingham County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let Northeast Guilford get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
Hudson Deel and Ethan Bognar did most of the damage at the plate: Deel went 1-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs, while Bognar went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and two doubles. That's the most RBI Deel has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Gavin Goots, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Rockingham County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Northeast Guilford only posted a batting average of .056.
Rockingham County's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Reidsville, they now have a losing record of 9-10.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Reidsville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. However, it's not like Rockingham County struggles in that department as they've averaged .376. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Reidsville came up short against Rockingham County when the teams last played back in March, falling 8-5. Will the Rams have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
