Lumen Christi Catholic came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They beat the Athens Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-1. The Titans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.

Bree Okoniewski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Okoniewski was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Bella Wrozek was a standout: she got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lily Ganton, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Lumen Christi Catholic pushed their record up to 18-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Athens, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Lumen Christi Catholic will venture away from home to square off against Springport at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Athens, they will take on Burr Oak at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
