After four games on the road, Hickory is heading back home. They will take on The General McLane Lancers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Two weeks ago, Hickory earned a 28-18 win over Sharpsville.
Hickory can attribute much of their success to Zander Telesz, who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 123 yards and a touchdown on only seven passes. Telesz was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 51 yards. Sean Kennedy was another key contributor, rushing for 37 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, General McLane can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 48-7 victory over Warren. The win was nothing new for General McLane as they're now sitting on three straight.
Magnus Lloyd got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.5 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Isaac Zietz, who threw for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes.
Hickory's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 38.0 points per game. As for General McLane, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Hickory didn't have too much breathing room in their match against General McLane when the teams last played back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 33-28 win. Will Hickory repeat their success, or does General McLane have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
