Basketball Recap: Zach Czerlinsky and Blake Petty Secure Win for Brentwood Christian

On Tuesday, the Brentwood Christian Bears earned a 61-51 win over the St. Stephen's Episcopal Spartans. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while the Spartans are ranked 873rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brentwood Christian was led to victory by Blake Petty and Zach Czerlinsky. Petty dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, while Czerlinsky went 7 of 17 on his way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The match was Petty's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryant Herring, who posted eight points and ten rebounds.

Brentwood Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Brentwood Christian is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

Brentwood Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, an 84-33 victory against Veritas Academy on the 13th. As for St. Stephen's Episcopal, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 69-23 defeat against Greenhill on the 13th.
