The Concord Spiders are on the road again on Friday and plays the West Rowan Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Lake Norman Charter scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Concord still came out on top. Concord took their matchup against the Knights 68-59.
Jeremiah Howard continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyzen Coleman, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, West Rowan entered their tilt with the Cougars with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. West Rowan managed a 69-64 victory over the Cougars on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
West Rowan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Will Givens Jr. led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. Elijah Holmes was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Concord's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for West Rowan, they pushed their record up to 11-7 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as both teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Concord hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 64.9 points per game. However, it's not like West Rowan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 63.3 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Concord skirted past the Falcons 66-64 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Givens Jr., who scored 27 points along with six rebounds. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Concord still be able to contain Givens Jr.? There's only one way to find out.
