Basketball Recap: Wharton Wins Going Away Against Columbia

Wharton's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They blew past the Columbia Roughnecks 77-51. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 24 points or more this season.

Jacoryan Dickerson was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 31 points and 22 boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jameir Hearne-Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Wharton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-11 record this season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29 points. As for Columbia, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-22 record this season.

Wharton will face off against Needville at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Needville has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Columbia, they will square off against Sweeny at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sweeny has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
