Lakeway Christian Academy hasn't had much luck against Knoxville Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Lakeway Christian Academy was handed a eight-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Gibbs 10-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Lions have posted since April 3rd.
Bryson Allen was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Worsham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Lakeway Christian Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They are a perfect 11-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Knoxville Catholic entered their tilt with Webb on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Spartans 7-5.
Nick Turner made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits. Turner was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Ditmore, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Cole Scraggs was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Knoxville Catholic's record is now 20-12-1. As for Lakeway Christian Academy, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 20-10.
Lakeway Christian Academy suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Knoxville Catholic when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can the Lions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
