The Port Chester Rams will take on the Ardsley Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Port Chester is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Mount Vernon on Monday. The Rams blew past the Knights 13-2. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Billy Villanova made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Alexander Alvarez and Bryan Sachs did most of the damage at the plate: Alvarez scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2, while Sachs scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. Those three stolen bases gave Sachs a new career-high. Roy Morris III also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Ardsley got the win against Sleepy Hollow on Thursday by a conclusive 23-1.
Like Port Chester, Ardsley also got a great game from a two-way player: Jonah Kleinman. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Kleinman was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Ardsley got a massive performance out of Michael Depasquale, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Hunter Hamlet, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
Port Chester picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Ardsley, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Port Chester has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ardsley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Port Chester suffered a grim 11-3 defeat to Ardsley in their previous meeting back in June of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
