The Edison Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Piscataway Chiefs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Edison will be strutting in after a victory while Piscataway will be coming in after a defeat.
Edison came out on top against Carteret on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run fifth inning. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Ramblers. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Ramblers: they've now won six in a row.
Jenna Fugate and Callie DiBisceglie made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Fugate pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, DiBisceglie pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Fugate has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Fugate went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double, while DiBisceglie went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that DiBisceglie has hit this season.

In other batting news, K Harkins was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Nalini Parekh, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Edison kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carteret only managed four hits.
Meanwhile, Piscataway was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of Middlesex.
Julianna Mena was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalia Young, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Edison's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Piscataway, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edison hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .491. However, it's not like Piscataway struggles in that department as they've averaged .331. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edison took their victory against Piscataway when the teams last played on Thursday by a conclusive 12-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
