Tri is a perfect 9-0 against Monroe Central since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Titans will look to defend their home field against the Golden Bears at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tri has three straight wins, Monroe Central has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Tri will bounce into Thursday's game after beating Union County, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Titans walked away with a 6-2 victory over the Patriots on Wednesday.

Avery Dungan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run.
In other batting news, Lyla Williams was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple. Ava Griffin was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Monroe Central fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Southern Wells on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 16-13 to the Raiders.
Tri's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Monroe Central, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Monroe Central's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Tri has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Monroe Central, though, as they've been averaging 9.7 hits. Given Tri's sizable advantage in that area, the Golden Bears will need to find a way to close that gap.
Tri got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Monroe Central by a conclusive 17-6 score. Will the Titans repeat their success, or do the Golden Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
