Calvary Christian Academy can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Tuesday. The stars were shining brightly for them in a 48-34 victory over Salisbury Christian. Calvary Christian Academy's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
JR Gillespie (HS) was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Sensenig (HS), who scored eight points along with six assists.
Calvary Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Salisbury Christian, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-7.
Calvary Christian Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Greenwood Mennonite at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Salisbury Christian will be home for the holidays to greet Freire Charter School Wilmington at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Freire Charter School Wilmington presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Salisbury Christian in their respective states (Freire Charter School Wilmington is ranked 38th in Delaware, while Salisbury Christian is ranked 242nd in Maryland).
