After a string of four wins, the Jackson-Reed Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They received a tough blow as they fell 60-46 to Maret. Jackson-Reed has not had much luck with Maret recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Jackson-Reed saw an underclassman step up: Aminyah Muhammed dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Muhammed hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for six straight games. Kryslynn Stewart was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with two steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Maret to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kennedy Austin, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Austin hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was London Liley, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Jackson-Reed's loss dropped their record down to 9-6-1. As for Maret, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson-Reed will take on Bell at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Bell comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Maret, they will play host again and welcome Sidwell Friends, where tip off is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
