Hazard was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in 1A District 6. The Bulldogs defeated Jenkins 42-14 earlier in the week.
Pineville made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 11,917 from 12,531. The improvement came about via a 33-26 victory over the Mountain Lions last week.
Harlan's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ty Saragas threw for 208 and four touchdowns and David Allen had 108 yards receiving. On the ground Cody Logan chipped in 64 yards. Eric Young helped Harlan's passing attack out by catching three balls for 57 yards.
Harlan's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Green Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Saragas has thrown for 1227 yards and 16 touchdowns this season, while Allen has 28 catches for 494 yards. Logan leads the league in rushing with 549 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Hazard takes on second place Pineville. Hazard defeated the Cavaliers last week, while Pineville lost to the Green Dragons.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Bart Elam's team takes on Mark Dixon's team. The Mountain Lions have allowed 189 points this season, while the Bulldogs have given up 129. Pineville allowed 33 points last week as it fell to Harlan.
