AAAA Region VI recap October 22, 2013
South Florence extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VI this week by beating Carolina Forest, 59-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
South Florence took down the Panthers 59-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Nick Jones threw for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran for 46 yards in the win.
David Prince's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Rodney Brunson chipped in 115 yards. David Vereen helped South Florence's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 58 yards.
Brunson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 115 yards on 13 carries as the Bruins topped Carolina Forest. Teammate Jones added to the ground attack by rushing for 46 yards.
South Florence's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Bruins feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 1,566 yards and 23 touchdowns this season, while Tabari Hines has 30 catches for 474 yards.
Brunson of the South Florence is just 9 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 152 carries Brunson has put up 991 yards this year.
As it stands, the Tigers are in fourth, while the Bruins are in first.
Sumter made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,976 from 3,306. The advance stemmed from a 16-0 victory over West Florence last week.
