The Pleasant Grove Eagles will venture away from home to square off against the Whitney Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
Ponderosa hit Pleasant Grove with a four-run third inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles came up short against the Bruins, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since February 26, 2025.
Shealynn Stinson made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Whitney made easy work of Folsom on Friday and carried off an 11-1 win. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.
Paige Tamblyn made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Kaitlyn Johnson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Bri Seffens was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
Whitney was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Folsom only posted a batting average of .227.
Whitney has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Pleasant Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Pleasant Grove's speedy runners might be the difference in Monday's matchup. The Eagles have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Whitney, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Pleasant Grove continue to outrun the ball?
Pleasant Grove came out on top in a nail-biter against Whitney in their previous matchup back in March of 2025, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Wildcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
