The Freeman Scotties will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Royal Knights at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Washington (Freeman is ranked 140th, while Royal is ranked 144th).
Freeman's 21-7 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a 49-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty on Monday. Freeman has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Freeman had strong showings from Natalie Semprimoznik, who scored 15 points, and Taylee Phelps, who scored 14 points. Phelps scored a full 34.1% of Freeman's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Royal had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna last Friday and snuck past 57-54. That 57-54 margin sets a new team best for Royal this season.
Freeman has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Royal, their victory bumped their record up to 1-3.
