Basketball Recap: Furlow Charter School Takes a Loss

Furlow Charter School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 30th straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a 80-43 loss at the hands of the Schley County Wildcats. The Falcons were probably out for revenge after losing 74-19 to them when the teams met back in December of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Furlow Charter School lost, don't look at Rashad Dowdell. Despite the final result, he almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine boards. Those 18 points gave Dowdell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Deriso, who posted ten points.

Schley County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Amir Nelson led the charge by putting up 16 points. Nelson is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Jalon Solomon, who earned 13 points.

Furlow Charter School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Schley County, their win ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-8.

Furlow Charter School will take on Webster County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Furlow Charter School is facing Webster County at the right time seeing as Webster County is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Schley County, they will square off against Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
