Mid-State - Cardinal recap Oct. 3, 2012
Licking Heights extended the longest winning streak in Mid-State - Cardinal this week by beating Grandview Heights, 34-7. The win marks sixth in a row for the the Hornets.
West Jefferson took down Millersport 60-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Liberty Union's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. AUSTIN VANNATTA threw for 59 and one touchdown and JESSE SHIREY had 24 yards receiving. On the ground JACOB BASSO chipped in 161 yards. JUSTIN REEVES helped Liberty Union's passing attack out by catching two balls for 16 yards.
Liberty Union's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Lions feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. VANNATTA has thrown for 518 yards and two touchdowns this season, while REEVES has 20 catches for 190 yards. BASSO leads the league in rushing with 561 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Harvest Prep takes on the Roughriders. The Warriors are in fourth place, while West Jefferson is in second place.
The Lakers made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 14,185 from 14,268. The improvement came about via a 60-0 victory over Millersport last week.
