Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Academy Extends Road Winning Streak to Eight

St. Joseph Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bishop Kenny, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Flashes were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Crusaders on Friday. The Flashes might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.

Garrison Wade and Sean Miskowiec made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Wade struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Miskowiec tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts Wade has posted since back in March. At bat, Wade went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI, while Miskowiec went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Wade is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dayton Taylor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Robshaw, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

St. Joseph Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bishop Kenny only posted a batting average of .259.

St. Joseph Academy pushed their record up to 16-4-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bishop Kenny, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-17 record this season.

St. Joseph Academy has already played their next contest, a 12-1 victory against Ridgeview on the 7th. As for Bishop Kenny, they will face off against St. Augustine at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
