Lincoln is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will head out on the road to challenge the Chief Sealth Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. Lincoln will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
Lincoln is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Garfield by a score of 9-6 on Monday. The Lynx haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Meanwhile, Chief Sealth entered their tilt with Franklin on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Quakers with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Seahawks have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Peter Sketchly was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Nolan Vanbuskirk was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Murphy, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Chief Sealth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive contests.
Chief Sealth's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.3 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their record now sits at 6-3.
Lincoln took their win against Chief Sealth in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 8-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
