With a playoff win on the line, Woodward Academy rose to the challenge  on Saturday. They came out on top against the Pope Greyhounds by a score of  3-1. The  victory was nothing new for the War Eagles as they're now sitting on eight straight.
 Jade Williams paced Woodward Academy's offense, picking up 18 kills. Williams got some help from  Marissa Jones and her 42 assists.  Reagan Bland controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.
 Despite the  loss, Pope saw an underclassman step up: sophomore  Wynnie Abney  had 16  digs and three assists. Abney has been hot, having  posted 12 or more  digs the last five times she's  played.
Woodward Academy's record now sits at 37-6. As for Pope, they moved to 31-9 with that  defeat, which also ended their six-match winning streak.
 Coming up, Woodward Academy will face off against McIntosh at 7:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. Pope does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
