The Walkertown Wolfpack had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against T.W. Andrews and snuck past 57-54. Given Walkertown's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 99th, while T.W. Andrews is ranked 398th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Walkertown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaden Tyson led the charge by scoring 12 points along with four steals. Tyson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Wilkerson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Walkertown's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for T.W. Andrews, they bumped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Thomasville the next time they take the court. T.W. Andrews will head out to face Thomasville at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Walkertown will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
