Richardson has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Pearce Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.
On Friday, it was close, but Richardson sidestepped Nimitz for a 2-1 victory. Given Richardson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 79th, while Nimitz is ranked 283rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Richardson was led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Journee Mitchell and
Ella Payne, who scored both of Richardson's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 11 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Pearce has not lost a match since January 13th, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They won by a goal and slipped past MacArthur 3-2. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but Pearce was the better team in the second half.
Richardson is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Pearce, their victory bumped their record up to 8-2-4.
