The Martin County Cardinals will challenge the Fairview Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
On Thursday, Martin County made easy work of Phelps and carried off a 14-2 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won eight games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Aiden Mann looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Dylan Hale was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. Crayson Lafferty was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fairview, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past Chesapeake 13-12. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Eagles have posted since April 18, 2024.
Hunter Good was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Good was also big at the plate, getting on base in both of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Landon Stapleton and Jeffery Everetts did most of the damage at the plate: Stapleton got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Everetts went 4-for-6 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Everetts is becoming a predictor of Fairview's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 5-1 (and 1-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Eli Stewart, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Fairview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fairview's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Martin County, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
Martin County might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from Fairview when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
