The Flagler Panthers can finally bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Saturday. They put the hurt on Elbert with a sharp 53-29 victory. Flagler has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Jaylie Stone, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Lexi Witt, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Elbert saw an underclassman step up: Piper Warren almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 18 rebounds. Warren is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last six games she's played.
Elbert struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Flagler posted 14 assists.
Flagler's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-7. As for Elbert, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Flagler has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Wildcats at 3:00 p.m. on January 30th. Kit Carson is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.5 points per game this season. As for Elbert, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Pikes Peak Christian is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
