Fivay hasn't had much luck against Hudson recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Fivay Falcons will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Hudson Cobras at 6:30 p.m. Hudson took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Fivay, who comes in off a win.
Fivay headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for three straight, but Bishop McLaughlin Catholic let them put that streak behind them. Fivay never let Bishop McLaughlin Catholic get on the board and left with a 19-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Hurricanes: they've now won six in a row.
Danna Sleeman was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Sleeman was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also put up two RBI, which were her first of the season.
In other batting news, Fivay got a massive performance out of Sofia Torres Gutierrez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Torres Gutierrez also got three hits, marking her first of the season. Abby Wojcik was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.
Fivay always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Hudson lost 12-4 to River Ridge on Tuesday.
Bella Veraldi made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Fivay's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Hudson, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Fivay might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Hudson when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Fivay avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
