Baseball Recap: Chazy Finds Home Field Redemption Against Wells

There's no place like home for Chazy, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They blew past the Wells Wells CSD 29-1 on Monday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 13 runs or more this season.

Tate Stevens and Zeke McLennan were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Stevens pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, McLennan struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At the plate, Stevens got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while McLennan earned one RBI and three runs.

In other batting news, Landon Duprey was a standout: he went 5-for-6 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Duprey is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Novak Jarus, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.

Chazy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wells only posted an OBP of .176.

Chazy's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Wells, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Chazy has already played their next match, a 7-5 victory against Bolton Central on the 30th. As for Wells, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-1 loss against Lake Placid on the 30th.
