Even though the Central Jaguars have not done well against the Navarre Raiders recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Central walked away with a 60-49 win over Navarre. The win made it back-to-back wins for Central.
Central found their leader in underclassman Lakin Mathews, who scored 32 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mathews has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Hatcher Sasha, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Navarre's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kensington Perez, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds. Breanna Shaw was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Central's win bumped their record up to 12-9. As for Navarre, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-16.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Milton at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. As for Navarre, they will head out on the road to square off against South Walton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Navarre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
