The Brandywine Bobcats will head out on the road to square off against the Watervliet Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Brandywine's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Watervliet's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Brandywine's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Berrien Springs.
The team relied heavily on Kaeden Warfield, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Watervliet posted their closest victory since March 26th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Bridgman 2-0.
The result came thanks to Cayden Ryan's shutout, as he gave up just three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Caleb Jewell was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.
Brandywine has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Watervliet, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Brandywine has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Watervliet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Brandywine came out on top in a nail-biter against Watervliet in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
