The Romeoville Spartans fell victim to the Plainfield East Bengals''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. Their tough 26-0 loss to the Bengals might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Romeoville in their matchups with Plainfield East: they've now lost five in a row.
Richard Conley threw for 137 yards on 13 of 23 attempts. Cameron Jurgens was his top target, picking up 94 receiving yards.
Romeoville's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 11.3 points per game. As for Plainfield East, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-5 record this season.
