Washington had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against Vincennes Lincoln by a score of 52-42 on Saturday. Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while Vincennes Lincoln is ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hayleigh Cummins out in front who scored 15 points along with five assists and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Cummins has scored all season. Katie Reed was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Gibson Southern put the finishing touches on their 14th blowout victory of the season on Saturday. They breezed by Boonville on the road to the tune of 78-35.
Gibson Southern's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Gabby Spink, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists, and Chloey Graham, who went 6 for 8 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and 1 assist. Graham is trending in the right direction, as she's improved her point production for three games straight.
