The Millard West Wildcats had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They came out on top against Elkhorn South by a score of 52-42. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Millard West has scored all year.
Millard West got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Reece Carson out in front who scored 15 points. The game was Carson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Fortune, who scored 12 points along with three blocks.
Despite the loss, Elkhorn South still got an impressive performance from Lincoln Schwarz, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Schwarz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Musil, who scored four points.
Millard West's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Elkhorn South, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Millard West will be home for the holidays to greet Gretna on Saturday. One thing working in Gretna's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Elkhorn South, they will head out on the road to face off against Papillion-LaVista South at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. Papillion-LaVista South will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
