Hun had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They managed a 42-38 win over the Chicago Mt. Carmel Caravan on Thursday. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders who have now won six contests in a row dating back to last season.
A big part of the win came down to the chemistry between Jack Moran and his top target Bryce Kania. Moran threw for 517 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 19.1 yards per attempt while Kania picked up 224 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Kania's longest reception was for an incredible 88 yards. A healthy portion of that aerial production (123 yards to be exact) also went to Drae Tyme, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Hun's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged three passes before it was all said and done. It was truly a group effort as Liam Thorpe, Kania, and Jack Garbolino picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Chicago Mt. Carmel's side was Kole Briehler, who picked up two sacks and made six total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Hun was moving up and down the field and finished the game with 690 total yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now gained at least 525 total yards in four consecutive matches dating back to last season.
