Basketball Recap: Dreher Takes a Loss

Dreher lost a heartbreaker to Orangeburg-Wilkinson when they met back in January, and they left with a heavy heart again on Tuesday. The Dreher Blue Devils fell just short of the Orangeburg-Wilkinson Bruins by a score of 45-43. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since February 2nd.

When it comes to explaining why Dreher lost, don't look at Halen Moss. Despite the final result, he posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Moss a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Manny Mccullough, who earned eight points.

Leading Orangeburg-Wilkinson to victory were Mark Jamison and Jordan McGahee. Jamison put up 12 points and three steals, while McGahee went 5 of 7 on his way to 11 points. Jamison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Keith Smith, who had seven points.

Dreher dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-1.

Dreher didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-50 loss against Irmo on the 20th. As for Orangeburg-Wilkinson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 59-50 defeat against Greenville on the 21st.
