Softball Recap: Stratford Wins Going Away Against Abbott RVT

Stratford had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Abbott RVT on Wednesday. The Red Devils blew past the Wolverines 17-3. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by seven runs or more this season.

Carolyne Burlone and Ashlyn Tracy did most of the damage at the plate: Burlone went a perfect 4-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Tracy went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave Tracy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyan Rolle, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs.

Stratford was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .472. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

Stratford has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Abbott RVT, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Stratford is taking a road trip to face off against Brookfield at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. Abbott RVT does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
