Softball Recap: Cosby Has No Trouble Against Clover Hill

There's no place like home for Cosby, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Clover Hill Cavaliers a 10-0 shutout on Monday. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Titans yet this season.

Kam Brown made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Cosby got a massive performance out of Lily Taylor, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those runs were Taylor's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aislin Bossler, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Cosby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Cosby now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Clover Hill, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cosby will welcome L.C. Bird at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Skyhawks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.8 runs per game on average), something the Titans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Clover Hill, they will be playing at home against James River Midlothian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rapids have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.33 runs per game on average), something the Cavaliers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
