It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Yorktown Tigers ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Anderson 74-72. The win was familiar territory for Yorktown who now have five in a row.
Kieran Tewari was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 28 points and 1 assists. Those 28 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Moulton, who scored 13 points.
Anderson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Damien King, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Javon Warfield was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with six rebounds.
Yorktown's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Anderson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-2.
Yorktown will look to defend their home court on January 5th against Westfield at 7:30 p.m. As for Anderson, they will head out on the road to face off against Pendleton Heights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pendleton Heights has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
