The Ithaca Bulldogs will face off against the Seneca Indians at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Ithaca's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past La Farge 20-0. The Bulldogs have beaten the Wildcats the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wildcats has come to flipping the script.
Meanwhile, Seneca made easy work of Royall on Tuesday and carried off an 11-0 victory. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.3 runs per game.
Kaden Roberts and Jackson Konichek made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Roberts pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Konichek struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. At bat, Roberts went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Konichek went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Konichek has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
In other batting news, Seneca let Prestin Kuhnke and Gage Wall run wild. Kuhnke went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run, while Wall went 3-for-4 with one home run and three runs. That home run marked the first that Wall has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jax Wall, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Seneca kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matchups.
Ithaca's victory bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Seneca, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
Everything went Ithaca's way against Seneca in their previous matchup back in April, as Ithaca made off with a 9-3 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
