Baseball Recap: Hubbard Wins Going Away Against Hyde Park

Hubbard got themselves on the board against Hyde Park on Monday, but Hyde Park never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Thunderbirds with a sharp 15-0 victory. Considering the Greyhounds have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Thiago Monarrez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hubbard let Serafin Millan and Ricardo Romo run wild. Millan scored three runs and stole six bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances, while Romo scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Romo has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Michael Duran, who scored two runs while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

Hubbard always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .952. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Hubbard and bumps their season record up to 8-2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Hyde Park, their loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Hubbard will face off against Back of the Yards College Prep at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Greyhounds are facing the Bobcats at the right time seeing as the Bobcats are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Hyde Park, they will venture away from home to face off against Little Village at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
