The Youngker Roughriders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 49-48 to Glendale. Youngker was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Glendale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Youngker lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ares Chambers. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 26 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chambers has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Conway, who scored six points.
Youngker struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
It was another big night for Keme Jones, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 14 rebounds for Glendale. That makes it three consecutive games in which Jones has scored at least a third of Glendale's points. Anthony Duran was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five assists.
Youngker has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Glendale, their win bumped their record up to 5-13.
Youngker and Washington will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Youngker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. Glendale does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
