The Lone Peak Big Horns will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Jefferson Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Lone Peak suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Manhattan, falling 79-39. While losing is never fun, Lone Peak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Manhattan is ranked 18th).
Jefferson has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell just short of East Helena by a score of 53-51. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Jefferson has suffered yet this season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Kael Hesford, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that he scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Stevens, who scored seven points along with 18 rebounds and five assists.
Lone Peak's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
Lone Peak was dealt a bruising 78-41 loss at the hands of Jefferson when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Lone Peak avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
