The Gulliver Prep Raiders are on the road again on Friday and play against the Carrollwood Day Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
A well-balanced attack led Gulliver Prep over South Miami in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Gulliver Prep blew South Miami out of the water with a 44-0 final score. Gulliver Prep pushed the score to 37-0 by the end of the third, a deficit South Miami had no chance of recovering from.
Gulliver Prep found their leader in underclassman Brendan Beery, who threw for 137 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Roderick Boynton ii got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 63-19 win over Cambridge Christian. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-6.
Carrollwood Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Anthony Carrie out in front who rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also caught a touchdown. Izaiah Williams did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 59 receiving yards.
Gulliver Prep's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely South Miami, Belen Jesuit, and Somerset Academy (Silver Palms). As for Carrollwood Day, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
