Chatham Central is 2-7 against North Moore since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Chatham Central Bears will head out on the road to face off against the North Moore Mustangs at 7:30 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chatham Central has struggled recently with 15 losses in a row, while North Moore will arrive with five straight wins.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-6, which was the final score in Chatham Central's tilt against Northwood on Thursday. Chatham Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-6.
Meanwhile, even though Cummings scored an imposing 33 points on Monday, North Moore still came out on top. North Moore had just enough and edged Cummings out 36-33.
Jakarey Gillis got back to being his usual excellent self, as he rushed for 206 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.8 yards per carry. Gillis was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards. Kolby Ritchie was in the mix too, providing North Moore with two touchdowns.
Chatham Central's defeat was their 15th straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Sadly, the team can't blame their woes on tough opposition, as that stretch included 1-8 Graham and 1-8 Jordan-Matthews (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 44.2% over those games). As for North Moore, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
Chatham Central was dealt a bruising 49-6 loss at the hands of North Moore in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Can Chatham Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
